![]() ![]() This is one of the most important parts and one of the things people get wrong most often! Barring SFX fonts, Japanese manga has four fonts/font styles typically used–and even the most amateur of artists will generally stick with this. Beggars can’t be choosers, of course, and a poorly typeset comic in a language you can understand is always better than a perfectly typeset one…still in moonrunes.īut for anyone who likes to do the odd typesetting job, or for anyone hoping to become a typesetter themselves some day, I thought I’d put together a primer of basics to get you started, things to avoid, things to be sure you take into consideration, the works! Lots of the time, though, it’s the typesetter’s first time doing such a job, or they’ve been doing it a while but never really learned the dos and don'ts of typesetting. So, lots of people like to take pixiv comics and scanlate them for the rest of their respective fandoms to enjoy–and that’s great :D It’s intimidating and time consuming to start a whole scanlation group, and sometimes you can’t dedicate that kind of time to it, but a little 4-panel comic now and then? Piece of cake!
